Is It Me? Are Realtors Not Reading What's Printed On The MLS, Anymore?
    by Scott Daniels

I don`t know about you,we go through great lengths to make sure, when we have a "new listing" we post it properly on the MLS.

Simply put we don`t place a listing in a section where it shouldn't`t be!

Yesterday, we received an "Offer to Rent" a home that isn`t for Rent! It`s impossible for an agent to make this type of mistake,or so it seemed, yet, the fax clearly read "Contract to enter into a Lease".

The real question:"why would any agent waste their time, presenting a "Lease" when it clearly reads on the MLS "For Sale"? Can you imagine the amount of time spent?

I decide to contact the other agent to find out what`s going on!

Me: Thank You for the offer, but there must be a mistake. The home isn`t for rent, the seller doesn`t wish to lease their home.

Agent: My client and I thought the seller would lease the home to us. They`re not in the market to buy now, maybe down the road.

Me: So you and the client are looking at "Homes For Sale' rather than "Homes For Rent" in hopes of accomplishing what?

Agent: We looked at a few homes "For Rent" and didn`t like what was on the market. My client told me to locate more homes!

Me: What would you like me to tell my seller?

Agent: My client has good credit. They can move in 30 days.

Me: How many homes have you looked at that are "For Sale?".

Agent: Me and my client looked at 7 homes in the area, that they want to rent.

Me: Did any of these homes mention they were "For Rent?".

Agent: No,we just thought someone would rent to us.

With that I wished the agent "Good Luck" and decided not to continue this conversation. I`m positive the agent wasn`t kidding, nor was he able to comprehend what I was asking.

Taking a client out to view "Homes For Sale" and attempt to get someone to Rent their home seems unrealistic at best! Hard to believe, but True!
